Colorectal Cancer Program

Colorectal cancer, or cancer of the large intestine, is the second highest cause of cancer-related deaths and the third most diagnosed cancer among men and women.

At Northside Hospital, we continue to make progress in the development of comprehensive, interdisciplinary gastrointestinal (GI) cancer care services with the expansion of our colorectal cancer screening program.

Northside Hospital’s Gastroenterology (GI) Centers

When caught early, colorectal cancer is very treatable and survival rates are high. Northside's GI Centers offer the latest technology and the most comprehensive preventative care to diagnose and treat early colorectal cancer. Whether you need a routine colon cancer screening or a procedure to diagnose and treat new GI symptoms, Northside’s team of gastroenterologists (physicians specializing in GI conditions) and GI nurses are ready to collaborate with you and the heath care team to develop an individual plan of care.

Screening & Diagnostics

Finding colorectal cancer at its early stages can save lives. Northside's Advanced Center for GI Therapeutics offers a variety of gastrointestinal (GI) procedures to aid in the diagnosis of GI conditions, including colorectal cancer. Our Hereditary Cancer Program also is available to patients interested in genetic counseling and testing due to strong personal or family histories of cancer.

Physicians at our Advanced Center for GI Therapeutics and our Cancer Institute work together, using state-of-the-art technology to provide leading-edge treatments to patients with colorectal cancer.

Support & Survivorship

Our dedicated GI cancer navigator is here to assist patients in receiving all the necessary medical care while also having access to financial and social support resources.

Colorectal Cancer Transportation Assistance Program
Need help getting to your next appointment? Lack of transportation can be a major barrier to receiving cancer screening or treatment. Many people forego much needed medical care because they don’t have a car, can’t drive, or live too far away. Thanks to the generosity of the Colon Cancer Alliance’s Undy 5000, Northside Hospital has funding to provide one-way or round trip transportation to colorectal related appointments. More information.
