The
Intensive Care Units (ICU) at Northside Hospital offer state-of-the-art-
technology for the care of the critically ill. Our mission is to partner
with the patient and family to provide quality, innovative care that
benefits the patient as we assist their return back into the community
as a healthy adult. Comprehensive critical care services are available
for the following conditions including but not limited to:
Medical/Surgical, Neurologic/Neurosurgical, Medical/Interventional
Cardiac, Obstetrics/Gyn, Bone Marrow Transplant, and Oncology.
Northside's ICUs are focused on best practice standards designed to
prevent and minimize complications on complex multisystem dysfunctions,
for the protection of our patients. Quality initiatives are a common
practice for our critical care team.
Our ICUs are proud of their continuous effects in preventing Hospital Acquired Infections for the protection of our patients. The interdisciplinary team, which includes nurses, various therapists, pharmacists, physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and multiple hospital specialists, uses a collaborative approach to address each patient’s individual healthcare needs. Board Certified Acute Care Nurse Practitioners/Intensivists and Board Certified Physician Assistants are an integral part of critical care services. By combining both compassionate and quality care, which treat both the patient and their family, we optimize our patients' long-term outcomes.
Atlanta Campus: Northside Hospital-Atlanta features a 28-bed ICU. Every patient has a spacious private room including, equipment suspended from the ceilings that attach to the high tech hemodynamic monitoring, a patient lift system and flat screen TV. We utilize a family-centered care approach to allow the family maximum opportunity to participate in the healing process of the patient.
Forsyth Campus: Northside Hospital-Forsyth recently opened its larger, patient-focused ICU. The expanded unit allows for the addition of four patient rooms, increasing the total from 20 to 24 beds, which are more spacious than those of the old ICU. The new unit also features advanced technology in the rooms to better accommodate the needs of patients and staff, areas for family members, larger staff work and documentation stations and more, allowing for a much higher acuity in the level of care.
