We believe each family is unique and deserves individualized family centered care. You and your partner have many options for your labor experience and we will make every attempt to accommodate your preferences unless it becomes medically inadvisable. Use this guide to help decide what is right for you.
No one can tell you what your birth experience will be like, but classes can help you feel prepared, confident and ready for the birth of your baby. Northside's maternity classes provide you with evidenced-based information on the labor/birth process and possible variations, coping options and what will happen in the hospital, as well as your partner’s responsibilities. They allow you to share your thoughts and concerns with other couples and receive hands-on practice with expert childbirth educators, who also are labor and delivery nurses.
There are multiple types of classes depending on how you like to learn. You can complete an online course and then come to a condensed 3-hour class for practice, questions with instructors and interaction with other expectant couples. Other couples prefer to get everything in one 7-hour class. Flexible weekday and weekend classes at multiple locations are available. Register early for the option that best fits your needs.
