From a lung cancer diagnosis to treatment, the Northside Hospital Cancer Institute brings together our multidisciplinary team of experts who deliver extraordinary care, follow-ups and outcomes that empower our patients every step of their journey.
Our physician expertise are unique to lung cancer patients — thoracic surgery, medical and radiation oncology, pulmonology, radiology, and pathology. We take great strides to ensure patients experience a smooth and seamless treatment plan following the detection of their lung cancer.
More than half of the lung cancer surgeries at Northside are performed with minimally invasive surgical techniques. In addition to robotic and advanced technologies that yield some of the most successful results in the country, we also embrace molecular-based treatment, which targets individual genetic mutations in order to spare healthy cells and reduce side effects. Our comprehensive supportive care services include multiple smoking cessation service offerings and an unwavering commitment to provide the best care to all of our patients.
Lung cancer treatment requires a team of specialists working together to provide the BEST care possible for each patient.
Treatment recommendations depend on various factors---cancer size and stage, personal medical history and family history as well as other information. No lung cancer patient is like any other and Northside’s team acknowledges this---we treat each cancer individually and consider each patient’s unique life circumstances.
Our multidisciplinary thoracic/lung team meets for a weekly conference. Weekly Multidisciplinary Thoracic/Lung conference This provides our specialists a forum to discuss specific thoracic cancer cases and treatment recommendations. In this room of experts, radiology and pathology images are reviewed, and oncologists sit together to talk through the best treatment options, including clinical trials, for individual patients. Patients whose cases are reviewed at the thoracic cancer conference get the benefit of not just one clinical perspective but more than a dozen expert opinions.
It’s also important to maintain annual check-ups to stay healthy and prevent lung cancer. Northside can help you do that, too, with our state-of-the-art imaging services and lung cancer screenings. Early detection is key.
No cigarette is without risk. Northside wants to help you kick the smoking habit with our Smoking Cessation Program. For additional information or to register for a class, contact (404) 780-7653 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Treatment for lung cancer depends on the type and stage of lung cancer. Options typically include one or more treatments, including surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy or targeted drug therapy. Talk with your doctor to choose a cancer treatment plan based on a number of factors, such as your overall health, the type and stage of your cancer, and your preferences.
