They take care of you and help you get back on your feet. And they are your neighbors, too. Meet the people of Northside Hospital and get to know them here.
Dana Gopal started working in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the Atlanta campus in 1989 and seven years ago, she joined the NICU team at the Forsyth campus. Dana started her registered nurse career more than 30 years ago.
“I’m inspired to come to work every day because I’m making a difference in people’s lives. What I like about my job is that Northside is an incredible place to work,” Dana said. “I work with some fantastic leaders, and even at this stage, I can learn from them.”
Dana said it’s an incredible honor to be part of a family going through the NICU journey.
One story that Dana remembers is how she cared for a one-pound baby girl in the NICU, who 22 years later sent her a social media friend request.
“The NICU staff becomes your family,” she said. “Whatever their journey, whatever their outcome, I’m there to provide the care and the support they need. Their friends and family may not be able to relate to what they are going through in the NICU and we are there to help them through.”
