Our Environmental Services (ES) team won Health Facilities Management’s ES Department of the Year award for their willingness to go above and beyond to ensure our patients’ comfort and satisfaction.
Upkeep for a hospital with 537 beds and 1.2 million sq. ft. of cleanable space can be a daunting task. The ES team works closely with Aramark, its management service partner, to ensure the job is done well. And it certainly is—so far in 2015, over 80 percent of Northside’s patients responded that their room was “always” clean during their stay, a percentage that has risen steadily over the last three years.
The ES team’s partnership with Aramark has also provided many of the support tools necessary to bring actionable data and daily coaching to ES staff. These metrics include things like surface-cleaning thoroughness, hand-hygiene compliance and patient satisfaction with room cleanliness.Our department leaders play an integral role in driving the team’s success by meeting frequently with their direct reports and nursing staff to discuss opportunities for improvement. In the last year, the ES department offered “white glove” turndown service for patients upon request, which includes an evening refresh of the patient’s room and bathroom. Talk about top-notch service!
