There’s a motto Eve Leverette lives by: “Treat every patient as if they were my family,” she says. “Better yet, treat them as if they were me.”
For the last eight years, Eve has worked as an oncology nurse in the Blood and Marrow Transplant Unit at Northside Hospital Atlanta.
“Being diagnosed with cancer is a major life changing experience,” Eve says. “My goal on a day-to-day basis is to provide our patients with meticulous care.”
Eve describes her patients who are battling cancer as “simply amazing.” They are a strong, determined and impressive group of people.
“They are my heroes and the inspiration that makes me want to always work in this field,” Eve said. “It’s not only about providing treatment to them; I love to laugh with them, cry with them and celebrate with them as well.”
At Northside Hospital, she sees her hard work pay off. Patients are welcomed with open arms as part of “one big family,” she says.
“Even though the outcome for every patient may not be so great,” Eve says, “to know you can affect the life of just one person, makes it all worthwhile.”
