Taking care of people is something Ira Hicks has been passionate about “as far back as I can remember,” she says.
“I can remember being a little girl and running to help children that had fallen off a swing or merry-go round,” Ira says. “I always felt it was my duty to help them.”
That’s why 17 years ago, Ira became a nurse. Two years ago, she joined Northside Hospital Forsyth as an operations coordinator for surgical services, where she assisted in opening a new operating room and cystoscopy room.
In May of 2016, she became service coordinator and assisted in opening a new Surgical Care Center.
“There are so many things that I love about my job,” Ira says. “I am always learning something new. The technology is always changing. My job is challenging and exciting, and no two days are ever the same.” But her most favorite part is still taking care of all people and treating various conditions.
“Knowing that I help to make a difference in a patient’s life is very rewarding,” she says. “I have always known that I wanted to be a nurse and Northside is helping me become the best nurse I can possibly be.”
