Prostate cancer remains the most frequently diagnosed cancer in men, aside from skin cancer. To help raise awareness of the disease, Northside Hospital’s Cancer Institute offers free prostate cancer screenings throughout the year.
Health care professionals will screen adult men for symptoms of prostate cancer and offer prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood tests and rectal exams at no charge. A nurse navigator is available to help arrange follow up care, if indicated.
Men between the ages of 40-75
No history of prostate cancer
Have not had a prostate exam within the last year
Uninsured (limited spaces available for those with insurance)
As an NCI Community Cancer Center, Northside Hospital leads the way in groundbreaking procedures for better outcomes and less invasive treatments for prostate cancer. In fact, more cases of the disease are diagnosed and treated at Northside than at any other community hospital in Georgia. Northside agrees with prostate cancer screening guidelines, established by the American Urological Association, which state that the PSA test is important in diagnosing prostate cancer at an early, more treatable stage in the course of the disease. Men are encouraged to talk with their health care provider to determine if screening for prostate cancer is right for them.
Northside Hospital’s prostate cancer screenings are free, but registration is required.
