On Friday, April 27th, the Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH) issued its final decision regarding the Northside Hospital-Cherokee replacement hospital project.
The written confirmation expressly states: “there is competent and substantial evidence in the record to support the Hearing Officer’s affirmative decision for the project on February 23, 2012.”
Northside Hospital is pleased that the Commissioner’s office has upheld all previous affirmative decisions rendered by the DCH. The citizens of Cherokee County are overwhelmingly in support of Northside’s plans for the replacement hospital.
Wellstar has continued to oppose a new Northside Hospital for Cherokee County residents at the same time they are building a new Wellstar hospital for Paulding County residents.
Northside continues to be in full compliance with the CON exemption law and we are hopeful that this final decision from the State will cause Wellstar to cease its continued efforts to delay this project.
