The Atlanta chapter of the International Pomegranate Guild of Judaic Needlework, the Peach State Stitchers, recently presented Northside Hospital with more than 500 blankets for cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy treatment. The blankets are being delivered to patients in the Infusion Centers at Northside’s Atlanta and Forsyth campuses. This is not the first time the Stitchers have supported patients at Northside. In addition to blankets for cancer patients, in previous years the group also has supported Northside’s Special Care Nursery with blankets and isolette covers.
“At Northside, we treat more patients with cancer than any other hospital in Georgia. Many of these patients require chemotherapy as part of their care, and cozy blankets help to ease some of the side effects they often experience during treatment,” said Susan Casella, RN,C, breast health education and support service coordinator, Northside Hospital Cancer Institute. “I am honored to have this relationship with such a dedicated group of women from Atlanta.”
