Five of Northside Hospital Healthcare System’s nurses received top honors at the 2014 March of Dimes Nurse of the Year Awards, with Northside garnering more accolades than any other hospital in Georgia.
The event, held annually by the Georgia Chapter of the March of Dimes, recognizes nurses in 16 categories who demonstrate exceptional care, compassion and service for their patients. The Northside Hospital nurses honored for their services include:
• Melissa Tucker Petersen (Hospice/Home
Health/Palliative/Long Term Acute Care)
• Carolyn H. Ford (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit)
• Renice Washington (Oncology)
• Kate Lee (Rising Star)
• Vicki Barnett (Surgical Services)
“We are so proud of our five honorees and everything they have done to earn these outstanding distinctions,” said Bob Quattrocchi, President and CEO of Northside Hospital. “The ceaseless passion, care and dedication that these and all other Northside nurses display continue to strengthen Northside Hospital as the premier healthcare system in the state of Georgia.”
The event, held Saturday, Nov. 1 at the Grand Hyatt Atlanta, had more than 600 attendees and raised more than $160,000, making it one of the top Nurse of the Year events in the country. More than 800 nurses were nominated across Georgia and of those, 240 were selected as finalists with only 16 final award winners. The Northside Hospital nurses constituted nearly a third of the Nurse of the Year winners circle.
In addition to Northside Hospital, event partners included Grady Healthcare System, UnitedHealth Group, AmeriHealth Caritas, BDR Partners and McCarthy Building Companies, Inc., Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Emory University’s Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing, Atlanta Magazine and CBS46.
