Posted on: April 27, 2015

Northside Hospital recently recognized 62 Northside Hospital-Atlanta Auxiliary members for their combined 237,500 hours of service to the hospital.  Each spring, Northside’s Auxiliary celebrates and recognizes those volunteers who have achieved special milestones during their volunteer careers.  This year’s celebration was held Friday, April 17, at the Dunwoody Country Club.

“The Auxiliary’s mission is to provide passionate support and quality service to the patients, families and visitors at Northside, as well as funding for special projects,” said Michaelle Arkin, Auxiliary president.  “The Hours Pins represent and recognize the tens of thousands of hands-on hours our volunteers have given toward this mission, in more than 30 different areas of the hospital.  I couldn’t be more proud to work with such an amazing and dedicated group of individuals.”

Recognized for giving the most hours were:
33,000 Hours, Christa Krause (Brookhaven) – Krause has been an Auxiliary volunteer at Northside for more than 40 years and has served throughout the hospital in more than 20 roles including president of the Auxiliary.  More recently, Krause helped found and organize the “Friends of the Auxiliary,” a group of ladies who knit or crochet blankets and caps for babies in the hospital’s Special Care Nursery, as well as patients undergoing chemotherapy.

15,000 Hours, Judy Lewis (Marietta) – Lewis has been a member of the Auxiliary for 16 years and has served on the Auxiliary Board in many capacities.  She currently works with the Friends of the Auxiliary knitting group, with the Perinatal Bereavement Department, and at the information desk.
