Thanks to a generous grant from the Northside Hospital-Atlanta Auxiliary last year, Northside Hospital was able to offer patients and visitors a complementary “Courtesy Shuttle” service around the Hospital’s Atlanta Campus. In its first year, the shuttle provided rides to approximately 36,000 people, an average of about 3,800 rides per month.
“After a spectacular first year, the Auxiliary’s Courtesy Shuttle Service has been declared an outstanding success,” said Carol Kratochvil, manager of volunteer services, Northside Hospital. “Our incredible team of drivers has made this service what it is today and I could not be more proud.”
The Auxiliary Courtesy Shuttle runs a continuous loop from the main entrance of the hospital to the adjacent Emergency Department, Cancer Center and Medical Tower. It operates Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
Northside Hospital’s Auxiliary began serving the Atlanta Hospital and community in 1969 with 100 volunteers. Today, the organization has 300 active volunteers, from ages 14-90 years, who work in more than 30 departments and who gave nearly 47,000 hours of service to Northside over the last year.
