CANTON – At 6 a.m. today staff at Northside Hospital Cherokee opened the new eighth floor and 40 new patient beds that have been in construction over the past year.
But the growth in capacity to serve patients from Cherokee and surrounding areas won’t stop there, said Steve Aslinger, director of facilities and planning.
“It’s a growing place,” Aslinger said of the hospital. “And we’re looking forward to doing what it takes to serve a growing community.”
The Atlanta Regional Commission this year reported that Cherokee County is the fastest growing county in the metropolitan Atlanta area and now has a population of more than 250,000.
