Practice welcomes Dr. Jess Schwartz, opens new location in Gwinnett County
Northside Thoracic Surgery's expert team of surgeons, which includes Dr. Shady M. Eldaif, Dr. John W. Gouldman, Dr. G. Andrew Helms and Dr. Jess D. Schwartz, provides surgical care for patients with benign and malignant thoracic conditions at six locations throughout the Atlanta region.
Board certified in thoracic surgery, Dr. Schwartz has special interest in thoracic malignancies and specializes in treating patients with lung cancer, esophageal cancer, and mediastinal malignancies. He has extensive specialty training in minimally invasive techniques including robotic and video assisted thoracic surgery (VATS). Before joining Northside, Dr. Schwartz spent the last 15 years in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and in 2016 performed the state's first successful robot-assisted lobectomy for lung cancer. Most recently, he performed Northside Hospital Gwinnett's first lobectomy using the very latest Xi™ model of da Vinci® surgical system.
Having lost his mother from cancer when he was 15 years old, Dr. Schwartz was exposed at a very early age to the difficulties the disease places on an individual and their family. He finds it rewarding to now help patients and know that he played some role in their fight against cancer.
"I believe the physician-patient relationship is special," said Dr. Schwartz. "When I agree to take a patient to the operating room, I have formed a covenant with that patient and am going to take care of them as if they were a member of my own family."
Northside Thoracic Surgery has locations in Atlanta/Sandy Springs, Midtown Atlanta, Blairsville, Canton, Cumming and Lawrenceville. The new Lawrenceville location is at 500 Medical Center Boulevard, Suite 390.
