During the Jan. 12 State of the Union address, President Barack Obama announced that he wanted to cure cancer. WSB-TV's Craig Lucie spoke with Northside's Dr. Amelia Zelnak about that is possible with clinical trials already taking place in Atlanta.
“We are part of Georgia Core, which is a way for the National Cancer Institute trials to be available to our patients here in the community,” Dr. Zelnak said. “Discovering which genes have mutated or changed within a cancer and grouping patients with similar mutations and trials, and we look at targeted therapies for those mutations."
