The Northside Forsyth bariatric support groups are available to post weight loss surgery patients or anyone considering surgery (unless specified otherwise). It provides an opportunity to meet and learn from peers that have made the journey while gaining the support you need to improve your health. Topics covered may include, but are not limited to nutrition, mental health, fitness, wellness and mindfulness.
Support group attendance is highly encouraged because it serves to be an essential component of bariatric surgery success. Research suggests that bariatric surgery support groups are linked with better weight loss outcomes. A higher level of social support in general has been associated with greater weight loss after bariatric surgery.
