The Northside Hospital MothersFirst Program is an educational resource for expectant and current parents and their families. We offer pertinent education, hospital tours and other services for men and women throughout the many stages of their childbearing years, from early pregnancy through the early childhood of their baby.

Baby Essentials

This class teaches basic baby care, which starts the moment after birth. Learn about: skin to skin, baby communication, soothing methods, how to diaper and bathe, and safety considerations, such as the prevention of SIDS, home safety and what to look for in product safety. One registration is for two people.

Signing to your baby can reduce frustration for both you and your baby. It gives babies the ability to express themselves and accelerates your baby's development of speech. Breastfeeding/Baby Essentials Express Want to receive all of the information from Breastfeeding and Baby Essentials in one fast-paced class? Combine both classes with no repetition. Learn how to get off to a good start from the moment of birth with skin to skin, leading to abundant milk supply. Understand baby communication, prevention of sore nipples, positions for breastfeeding, soothing, swaddling, diapering, as well as how to know your baby is getting enough milk. The class also includes how to create a safe sleep environment and SIDs prevention as well as other home and product safety considerations.

For all parents and caregivers that want to be prepared for life threatening emergencies! This important class will cover the basics of CPR for people of all ages. Hands on practice with manikins and an automated external defibrillator will empower you with confidence and skill to deal with life threatening emergencies such as choking, cardiac arrest and respiratory arrest. These skills buy precious time while awaiting emergency medical assistance.

This important class will cover the basics of CPR, for both infant (ages 0 to 12 months) and children (ages 1-8 years) including choke-saving skills, home safety and other injury prevention measures. Most couples recommend taking this class early in the pregnancy instead of at the end.

Pregnancy Pilates, Pregnancy Yoga, Pregnancy Water Aerobics and Prenatal Toning, Fitness and Yoga Combo are classes brought to you by Oh Baby! Fitness. With 30 metro-Atlanta locations, a pregnancy fitness class should be nearby. All instructors are specially trained in prenatal and postnatal fitness, so classes are safe and fun. Safe Sitter

Safe Sitter is a babysitting preparation course that was designed by a pediatrician and has received national recognition by the American Academy of Pediatrics. Intended for young adults ages 11 -14 years. This full-day course includes role-playing games, hands-on manikin practice, topics in child care and tips for setting up a babysitting business.

This class is designed for the older big brother or big sister (ages 7-10) and includes age-appropriate discussion about the growth and developement of baby, what to expect from a new baby, and important topics such as safety, holding and diapering a newborn baby. Tour: Atlanta Womens Center

Schedule a tour of the comfortable, home like environment of our maternity accomodations and learn what to do, where to go, and where to park. Due to the length and detailed information, this tour is not appropriate for children under 6 years of age. For siblings under six, we offer Sibling classes with a tour specifically for them. Registration is required in order to attend this tour. Additionally, we ask that you arrive 15 minutes before the designated time as tours start promptly.
