Dr. Ambroze graduated Magna Cum Laude from Baylor University in Waco, Texas and received his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago, Illinois. He completed a residence in General Surgery at the Presbyterian Hospital at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York. He completed a research fellowship and clinical fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Colon & Rectal Surgery.
Dr. Ambroze is a fellow of The American College of Surgeons, a fellow of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, and the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the Medical Association of Georgia and the Medical Association of Atlanta.

Dr. Marion E. Schertzer graduated Magna Cum Laude from Queens College in New York. She received her medical degree from Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas and completed her general surgery residency at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. Dr. Schertzer joined Georgia Colon & Rectal Surgical Associates in August 1993 after completing a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at the University of Texas in Houston.
Dr. Schertzer is board certified by the American Board of Surgery, the American Board of Colon & Rectal Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. She is an active member of the Medical Association of Georgia, Atlanta Women's Medical Alliance, American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons and the Piedmont Medical Society. She is currently Chairperson of the Medical Advisory Committee with the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation Georgia Chapter. She is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and The American Society of Colon & Rectal Surgeons.
Faculty
Dr. Timothy Simon has been a physician with Georgia Colon and Rectal Surgical Associates since July 2002. He received his BS in biology from the University of Illinois Urbana/Champaign, and his medical degree from Howard University in 1993 while simultaneously competing in professional athletics. He later performed his internship and residency in General Surgery at Emory University. During that time he completed two years of clinical research which culminated in several textbook chapters and journal articles.
He became a Fellow in Colon and Rectal Surgery with Georgia Colon and Rectal Surgical Associates in July 2001 and remained on staff thereafter. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Colon & Rectal Surgery. His focus is compassionate surgical care which includes minimally invasive (laparoscopic) surgery, anorectal pathology, and inflammatory bowel disease management.
Attending
Dr. Mohammed Al Fayyadh is board-certified in general surgery and board eligible in colon and rectal surgery. He specializes in Colon and rectal surgery, minimally invasive robotic, laparoscopic, open and anorectal surgical procedures.
Dr. Al Fayyadh’s goal is to improve each patient’s quality of life, providing exceptional care with over 8 years of high quality training and completing over 2,000 surgical procedures. His philosophy of care is to be completely committed to each patient by offering them guidance and support throughout the treatment process.
In addition to his unique training, which encompasses minimally invasive surgical procedures, he believes in quality individualized care. By collaborating with his patients, he is able to enlighten them about their treatment plans while empowering them to live healthier and happier lives.
Outside of the office, Dr. Al Fayyadh enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, hiking, traveling and watching soccer games.
Faculty
Dr. Cici Zhang graduated cum laude from the University of Notre Dame. She received her medical degree from University of Indiana and then completed her residency in general surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, where she was Chief Resident. Dr. Zhang went on to complete her colorectal surgery fellowship at Georgia Colon & Rectal Surgical Associates and has recently joined the practice. She treats all colorectal conditions and has special interest in colorectal cancer through minimally invasive techniques.
Dr. Zhang is board-certified in general and colorectal surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. She understands that each patient has unique family and health circumstances, which means treating the individual optimizes medical and surgical outcomes. She specializes in robotic and laparoscopic surgeries, which help minimize pain and promote faster recovery.
