Dr. Patel was born and raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He joined the Gwinnett Medical Center team in June 2015 as a faculty member for the Internal Medicine Residency Program. Dr. Patel is board-certified in internal medicine and pediatrics. He attended the University of Michigan for his undergraduate studies and went to medical school at Michigan State University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he became interested in primary care and health disparities. He completed residency in Internal Medicine-Pediatrics and the Jay Weiss Residency for Social Medicine and Global Health Equity at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital. During that time, he helped create the Human Rights Clinic (HRC) of Miami -- a clinic dedicated to evaluating and documenting human rights abuses for the purposes of the court. Patel served as chief resident in the Med-Peds program, and then served as director of the Med-Peds residency continuity clinic at Jackson Memorial Hospital. His interests include preventive medicine, social medicine and global health.
