About Dr. Sam Shapiro

Associate Program Director

Dr. Shapiro was born in raised in South Florida and moved to Orlando to complete his undergraduate degree at the University of Central Florida in molecular and microbiology. He completed his medical school training at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine-Georgia Campus here in metro Atlanta and stayed in the area to do his internal medicine training at Northside Hospital Gwinnett, serving as a chief resident during his PGY-3 year.

Dr. Shapiro’s professional interests include curriculum development, telemedicine, geriatrics and ambulatory education. In his role as APD, he also serves as site director for the ambulatory clerkship and sub-internship, as well as Osteopathic faculty for the Osteopathic Recognition track.

Outside of work Dr. Shapiro enjoys writing, working out, yoga and exploring Atlanta.
