How do I choose a rehabilitation facility?
Choose a rehabilitation facility whose specialists work together to develop an individualized treatment plan for each patient. Rehabilitation specialists should include Physicians, Nurses, Physical therapists, Occupational therapists, Speech therapists, Psychologists, Recreational therapist and Case managers.
Glancy Rehabilitation Center offers a team approach to rehabilitation care. We provide individualized therapy for each patient with state-of-the-art technologies and compassion. Each patient’s rehabilitation team is headed by a physiatrist (a physician who is board-certified in rehabilitation), and team members include a case manager, specialty-trained nurses, as well as physical, occupational and recreational therapists. As needed, other team members might include a speech therapist, psychologist or other clinicians.
How can rehabilitation help me or my family member?
The goal of rehabilitation is to help the patient become as independent as possible and return home. After an illness or injury, Glancy Rehabilitation helps people relearn or teach new ways of completing everyday activities, like putting on clothes, pouring a drink or even walking.
How do I know if I need rehab or not?
Your current team of physicians and therapist will make a referral to our facility. Our medical team will review your clinical information and decide whether or not you meet our inpatient rehabilitation qualifications.
What types of insurance do you accept?
Rehabilitation is covered in full or in part by most health insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicare Advantage Plans. Our hospital has contracts with most major insurance companies and is willing to negotiate with other companies as needed. We also accept workers compensation.
How will I be transferred to Glancy Rehabilitation Center?
Most patients come to our hospital following a stay in an acute care hospital. Once you have been accepted at Glancy Rehabilitation Center, we will be in contact with your social worker or nurse who will get discharge orders from your physician and arrange transportation to our facility. Most of our patients are transported using non-emergency ambulances.
What can I expect once I have been admitted to Glancy Rehabilitation Center?
During your first few days at Glancy Rehabilitation Center, our highly-specialized rehabilitation team will conduct evaluations so they can establish your treatment plan and estimate how long you will be at our facility to reach your goals.
Each day you will engage in a rehabilitation program designed just for you. The intensity and duration of your therapies will depend on your needs and capabilities. Each week, your treatment team including our physician will meet to discuss your progress, goals and discharge plan.
How will my family be involved?
Your family is an integral part of your rehabilitation. Your family is welcome to be with you during the day and attend your therapy sessions.
Your rehabilitation program will also include a Family Training which will be scheduled by a Case Manager at admission and thereafter. This is an opportunity for your family or caregiver to have hands-on training time with each therapist and to meet with nursing. After training, your family/caregiver can safely assist you in your room at Glancy and later at home.
What personal items do I need to bring with me?
During your stay at Glancy rehabilitation Center, you will be participating in a variety of activities and therapies. We want you to be as comfortable as possible during your daily routine. Patients wear normal comfortable clothes during the day. Clothing should include shirts and slacks/shorts or sweat suits, underclothing, nightwear, socks, and shoes with rubber or non-slip soles such as sneakers or walking shoes. We recommend females wear slacks instead of dresses or skirts. You will also need to bring toiletries including comb/brush, toothbrush and toothpaste, razor/electric shaver, shampoo, cosmetics if desired.
What happens when I go home from rehab?
Our Case managers will work with you and your family on transitioning you back home. We will make sure you have everything you need in place prior to discharge including any adaptive equipment such as a walker or wheelchair and either home health therapy or outpatient therapy, whichever has been recommended by your treatment team. If a nurse is needed at home, we can help arrange that as well.
How long will I be staying at your facility?
Our average length of stay is about 2 weeks. Some of our patients get to go home a little faster while some may need to stay a bit longer, depending on their rehab needs. Our team of specialist will be reviewing your goals weekly to best determine how long you will be at Glancy Rehab.
