Northside Hospital and United Healthcare

Contract Termination Threatened By United Healthcare

Northside Hospital has enjoyed a long and successful partnership with United Healthcare. However, on October 9, 2020, United notified us that it will not renew its 11-year-old agreement with the Gwinnett Health System, which now is owned and operated by Northside Hospital.

As the landscape of health care in the U.S. has evolved, we have consistently worked with all our insurance partners, including United, to keep patients first. Northside Hospital firmly believes that an unwavering focus on patients and their families must be our goal, and that it must be shared by our insurance partners. But if any of our partners lose sight of that goal, they could cause unnecessary disruption to patient care, with the inevitable ripple effects of confusion and financial stress.

At Northside Hospital Gwinnett and Northside Hospital Duluth, the legacy of patient care is strong – and with Northside’s current expansion of patient facilities at both campuses, the health care future for the Gwinnett area is very bright.

For patients now covered by United Healthcare to not have in-network access to these hospitals would be regrettable.

Northside Hospital is firmly committed to avoiding that outcome. The people of the Gwinnett area are, and will continue to be, our primary concern – and the reason that we will fight on their behalf.
