Although Carol Frey was having an elected C-section, the soon-to-be new mom was admitted to our Forsyth campus for high blood pressure two days before her procedure. On November 29th, 2019, the Frey family welcomed their 7 pound, 3 ounce baby girl named Madelyn Grace. This is the first child for the Frey family, however, according to mom Carol, they will be back! "Everyone was so caring, attentive and understanding and by the end of the week, they made it really hard to want to leave," says Carol. Baby Madelyn is a wonderful sleeper, sleeping 6-7 hour stretches a night! She is very alert, happy and loves looking at lights. Congratulations, Frey family! #NewMomMonday

Self-Care for New Moms During the Pandemic

  1. Be gentle with yourself and the expectations you have of yourself and others.
  2. Limit your intake of news.
  3. If possible, spend some time on a porch, in the back yard, a balcony, or wherever you can safely expose yourself to sunshine.
  4. Seek reassurance from the people in your life that are supportive. It is ok to set limits and avoid those people who are not.
  5. Stay connected with others. Attend an online mom support group like one through Postpartum Support International.
