NORTHSIDE-CHEROKEE AWARDED CERTIFICATION FOR

PNEUMONIA CARE FROM THE JOINT COMMISSION

Northside Hospital-Cherokee has earned the Gold Seal of Approval™ for health care quality, receiving Disease-Specific Care Certification for pneumonia by the Joint Commission.  The hospital is just the second Georgia hospital to receive this distinction.

To receive this two-year certification, Northside underwent an extensive on-site evaluation by a team of Joint Commission reviewers.  The hospital was evaluated against Joint Commission standards through an assessment of its pneumonia-care processes, its ability to evaluate and improve care within the organization and interviews with patients and staff.  The surveyor was very complimentary of Northside and certification was awarded.

“We are very honored to receive this certification,” said Jan Johnson, chief nursing officer, “I want to thank the staff for all of their hard work and their ongoing efforts to improve the quality of care delivered to patients at Northside Hospital-Cherokee.”

Northside Hospital-Cherokee joins Northside Hospital (which includes both the Atlanta and Forsyth campuses) as the only two Georgia hospitals, and one of seven in the nation, to receive certification in pneumonia care.
