Northside Hospital-Cherokee Unveils Newly-Renovated

Emergency Department

Northside Hospital-Cherokee recently renovated and expanded its Emergency Department (ED) to better accommodate the growing needs of the Cherokee County community. The new space began serving patients on March 17.

“Due to increasing patient volume and facility constraints, the ED needed a significant expansion and other facility enhancements,” said Billy Hayes, CEO, Northside Hospital-Cherokee. “Patients can enjoy peace of mind in knowing that should they or a family member need emergency care, Northside Hospital-Cherokee is ready.”

The new and improved ED features:

Currently, Northside Hospital-Cherokee’s ED sees more than 34,000 patients annually. With the expansion, Northside now will have the ability and expectation of treating more than 45,000 patients annually. The last ED expansion was in 2005.

The ED at Northside Hospital-Cherokee provides 24 hour, 7 days-a-week emergency care to any medical, surgical or obstetrical patient.  It is staffed with physicians, board certified in emergency medicine, and nurses, who all are certified in BLS (basic life support), ACLS (advanced cardiac life support) and PALS (pediatric advanced life support). With HealthExpress Fast Track, patients with less severe injuries (once triaged) are seen by a registered nurse, physician assistant or nurse practitioner, to expedite care and get them home quicker. All major insurance plans are accepted.
