NORTHSIDE HOSPITAL OPENS
NEW PEDIATRIC IMAGING CENTER
August, 2007 - North Atlanta parents no longer have to travel to Atlanta for medical imaging or laboratory testing for their children. Now, with the new Pediatric Imaging Center located on the Northside/Alpharetta Medical Campus, parents have access – closer to home – to a variety of outpatient services dedicated to children.
The Pediatric Imaging Center is located in the new Pediatric Center building and provides families with high-quality imaging services in a child-friendly environment, with a shorter commute and free parking.
“Northside wants to continue providing A Lifetime of Care to families in North Atlanta,” says Russ Davis, director of marketing and public relations for Northside Hospital. “This new Center is the latest addition to the Northside/Alpharetta Medical Campus, which expands Northside’s pediatric services and offers access to even more pediatric physician practices.”
Among the Northside Hospital services available are laboratory and pediatric imaging. Northside Hospital is highly respected in the community for its state-of-the-art imaging services and ranks No. 1 by metro Atlanta consumers in the National Research Corporation’s 2006/2007 Healthcare Market Guide study. Northside understands the importance of providing a board-certified radiologist, sub-specialized in pediatric imaging to read and interpret every child’s images.
“While we will continue to provide general X-ray for patients of all ages at our many locations throughout north metro Atlanta, this new Pediatric Imaging Center offers more comprehensive pediatric imaging services including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT), ultrasound, X-ray and fluoroscopy dedicated to children from infants on up,” says Mary Shepherd, director of radiology services at Northside Hospital.
Northside Hospital Radiology annually performs more than 400,000 imaging exams. Through Picture Archiving and Communications Systems (PACS), radiologists can view and interpret images from any location. The system also allows physicians to view and confer directly with radiologists from their offices.
In addition to the existing pediatric physician specialties already located on the Alpharetta campus, the following additional medical specialties are available: general pediatrics; nephrology; cardiology; general dentistry; ear, nose and throat; orthodontics; pulmonology; plastic surgery; neurology and more.
