Vascular surgery is a specialty of surgery in which diseases of the vascular system, or arteries and veins, are managed by medical therapy, minimally-invasive endovascular procedures and surgical reconstruction.
Always on the forefront of the newest treatments and technologies, Northside's vascular surgeons recognize the importance of utilizing minimally-invasive techniques in surgery. With endovascular therapy using balloons and stents, our surgeons are able to perform complex procedures with simple punctures in the femoral arteries instead of using invasive incisions. As a result, patients benefit from a shorter recovery time, less discomfort, smaller incisions and only require local or regional anesthesia.
Our highly-skilled surgeons treat everything from the simplest to most complex arterial conditions including aortic aneurysms, blockages in the carotid arteries, peripheral artery disease (leg artery blockages), venous disease (blood cloths, varicose and spider veins), and artery problems of the intestines and kidneys among others.
Northside was the first in Georgia to use the new Magellan Robotic System to perform minimally invasive endovascular procedures in the legs and arms, and repair aortic aneurysms.
