Northside Hospital Gwinnett has opened a newly expanded, hospital-based radiation oncology center in Lawrenceville, increasing access to advanced cancer care for patients in Gwinnett County and surrounding areas.
The more than 16,000-square-foot center features some of the most technologically advanced radiation therapy equipment available, including:
- A TrueBeam® linear accelerator for advanced image-guided and intensity-modulated radiation therapy, stereotactic radiosurgery and stereotactic body radiation therapy
- A Halcyon™ system designed for faster, precise and streamlined treatments
- High-dose-rate brachytherapy for targeted internal radiation treatments
- On-site CT simulation for treatment planning and improved outcomes
Radiation therapy is one of the most common cancer treatment options. It involves using specialized equipment to deliver high doses of radiation to destroy cancer cells.
Northside Hospital Cancer Institute offers more radiation oncology centers and innovative radiation therapy treatment units than any other hospital system in Georgia.

The new Northside Hospital Cancer Institute Radiation Oncology offers advanced treatment options for complex cancers, along with multidisciplinary care coordination, survivorship support, and access to innovative treatment protocols. The hospital-based setting allows for seamless collaboration among medical oncology, surgical oncology, diagnostic imaging and support services.
Designed with patient comfort in mind, the new space includes updated waiting and treatment areas, increased privacy and improved patient flow to help reduce treatment times.
Northside Gwinnett Hospital Cancer Institute Radiation Oncology Center is located at 631 Professional Drive, Suite 120, Lawrenceville, Georgia. The new center will be staffed by radiation oncologists Dr. Leela Maxa and Dr. Joseph Lee, who will provide comprehensive, patient-centered radiation oncology services to the Gwinnett community.
