Mothers who come to ballgames or other events at Gwinnett Field now have a private and quiet place to nurse.

Northside Hospital and the Gwinnett Stripers cut the ribbon on the new Northside Hospital Nursing Lounge, located near the main entrance behind home plate. Northside also sponsors a first aid station on the site.

“At Northside Hospital, we care for mothers, we care for babies, and we extend this care far beyond the hospital — even into the ballparks,” said Keri Boatright, director of Women’s Services at Northside Hospital Gwinnett.

She said the ribbon cutting before the Stripers game on Saturday, July 11, was “a momentous day.”

“As I think about my experience as a mother, and even teaching my own children about mothering, we learned that we create moments around our children and being able to take care of our children,” Boatright said. “This is one of those opportunities we have been able to partner with the Gwinnett Stripers to join our community, to serve our parents, to serve our moms and our babies, to create a beautiful nursing lounge so that you can come out to the ballgame and you can enjoy the community events that we strive so much to have.”

The lounge includes air-conditioned seating and information about breastfeeding from Northside experts. The hospital sponsors a similar lounge for moms at Truist Park, home of the Atlanta Braves.

“We’re thrilled to be able to provide a dedicated, comfortable and private space that allows parents to care for their babies and children here at the ballpark, in conjunction with Northside Hospital,” said Joe Harrington, general manager of the Stripers.

“We can’t thank Northside Hospital and their team enough for their longtime partnership with our organization. We want to congratulate them for the wonderful and thoughtful care they provide for our community.”

Boatright noted Northside is one of the nation’s leading maternity care providers and recently celebrated the 35th anniversary of the Gwinnett Women’s Pavilion.

“We’re really proud of that patient- and family-centered care,” she said. “To be able to introduce this nursing lounge to the community is something that we’re really thankful for.”
