10K training tips: Get road-ready for Atlanta’s biggest race

Preparing for the Northside Hospital Peachtree Road Race? Dr. Matthew Simmons, sports medicine physician at Northside Hospital Orthopedics, encourages runners to build up gradually and prioritize consistency to stay healthy and race ready.

Running at least two to three days a week can help you build endurance and get race ready. For longer distances, gradually increasing your mileage and including longer intervals is key. A slow and steady buildup helps you reach a comfortable pace while reducing the risk of injury.

Start your training on the right track and be ready for race day. The Northside Hospital Peachtree Road Race is July 4.
