Orthopedic - Musculoskeletal Imaging

Northside Radiology offers patients a comprehensive range of musculoskeletal imaging services utilizing state-of-the-art imaging for muscular, soft-tissue, and bone conditions. Our team of highly qualified musculoskeletal radiologists, neuroradiologists and technologists uses a variety of modalities, including conventional radiography, fluoroscopy, CT, and MRI to diagnose injuries and degenerative conditions or joint disease. We work closely with both pediatric and adult specialists in many disciplines, including orthopedic surgeons, rheumatologists, oncologists, neurosurgeons and emergency medicine physicians, in order to provide a coordinated, multidisciplinary approach to the evaluation and treatment of patients.

Orthopedic MRI is the gold standard for examining the soft tissues surrounding the musculoskeletal system and determining the cause of abnormal pain or discomfort. These images give a detailed look at muscles, tendons, ligaments, and blood vessels allowing diagnosis of even the smallest tears and injuries.

With orthopedic MRI, your doctor can:

  • Diagnose arthritis and joint inflammation
  • Identify tendon and ligament injuries, or inflammation of the tendons
  • Identify meniscal tears of the knee and elbow
  • Identify bone tumors, stress fractures, and bone bruises
  • Determine the cause of abnormal pain or discomfort
  • Monitor post operative surgery
  • Identify worn or damaged cartilage
