The da Vinci system is designed to enhance the capabilities of the surgeon’s eyes and hands beyond what the human body allows. It does not make decisions or perform surgery on its own.
During a procedure, your surgeon remains in the operating room and is in complete control of the system at all times.

Surgeons sit at a console that gives them a 10x magnified three-dimensional, high-definition view of where they’re operating, allowing them to see anatomy that would not normally be visible to the human eye.
Amplified dexterity
The system features miniaturized instruments that move like the human hand but bend and twist in ways that are not humanly possible. These tools help your surgeon operate in delicate and hard-to-reach places, and the instrument size makes it possible for these procedures to be performed through incisions that range in size from 8 to 13 millimeters — about the size of your fingertip.
