At Northside Hospital, we want to support your decision to breastfeed. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends exclusive breastfeeding for your baby’s first six months.
“Without the practical help and emotional support of the Northside Lactation Consultants, I would have given up breastfeeding after two weeks. They gave me a range of workable strategies and were always encouraging, capable and knowledgeable.”

Breastfeeding is often a learned skill. Before you leave the hospital, our staff can provide you with the knowledge and assistance to help you and your baby enjoy the rewards of breastfeeding.
If you have a question after you've already gone home from the hospital, just give us a call and one of our certified lactation consultants can help you over the phone. You can schedule an outpatient consultation or appointment to purchase a breast pump. Breast pump rentals may also be available at some campuses.
