Early detection of lung cancer is more likely to lead to successful treatment. Northside’s Lung Cancer Screening Program has 46 imaging locations throughout Georgia to provide service close to home. Additionally, our Lung Nodule Clinic provides fast, accurate, and efficient diagnosis and management of suspicious lung nodules. The clinic is designed to provide care to patients who receive an abnormal chest imaging report of a concerning lung nodule. Prompt diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer, which can initially present as a lung nodule, may be the best chance for curing cancer.

The Interventional Pulmonology Program, a subspecialty area within the Northside Hospital Cancer Institute's Lung Cancer Program, offers advanced, non-invasive techniques and procedures to assist with early diagnosis and treatment of lung cancers, as well as pulmonary nodules and other related diseases. Northside's cutting edge technology in Interventional Pulmonology includes endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS), navigational bronchoscopy and photodynamic therapy for early diagnosis and staging of esophageal and lung cancers.

Thoracic surgeons at Northside use the latest minimally invasive surgical techniques, including robotic surgery, offering the best possible outcomes for patients. Northside was one of the first hospitals in Georgia to use robotics for thoracic surgery. Robotic surgery is performed at Northside for lung and esophageal cancers.
