Northside launches new program for head and neck cancers

The American Cancer Society estimates more than 66,000 new cases of head and neck cancer will be diagnosed in 2021. Treating these cancers are often complicated and important functions such as speech and swallowing can be affected.

Northside Hospital Cancer Institute’s new Head & Neck Program combines the latest technology, fellowship-trained specialists and support services to provide comprehensive care to patients with complex tumors of the oral cavity, larynx, salivary glands, thyroid and parathyroid glands, as well head and neck skin cancers and metastatic cancer to lymph nodes of the neck. The Program utilizes the latest in diagnostics, radiation therapy, surgery, systemic treatment and rehabilitation, as well as patient navigation, survivorship, disparities initiatives and clinical trials.

Song SuitTwo dedicated head and neck surgical oncologists, Drs. John I. Song and Gregory Ward, have joined the Program’s team of providers.

  • Dr. John I. Song is a nationally recognized head and neck surgical oncologist, board certified and fellowship trained, with more than 25 years of experience. He serves as medical director of the Head & Neck Program.
  • Dr. Gregory Ward is a board-certified and fellowship-trained head and neck and microvascular reconstruction surgical oncologist.
