Northside Hospital Cardiovascular Institute welcomes Drs. Alok Gambhir, Lalitha C. Medepalli and Ankit A. Patel; opens new Dawsonville location

Northside Hospital Cardiovascular Institute is pleased to announce its newest providers:

Dr. Alok Gambhir’s cardiac electrophysiology practice merges his passion for patient care with his love of math and physics. Over the past three decades, while performing a high volume of electrophysiology procedures with the highest quality, Dr. Gambhir has been published in several prestigious scholarly journals that span many disciplines of cardiology, cardiac electrophysiology, physics and engineering. In addition to delivering patient-centric care, he employs the latest technologies and techniques—this includes WATCHMAN, a groundbreaking device of which he is one of the top implanters in the country.
Dr. Gambhir sees patients at the Sandy Springs-Hammond and Canton locations.

Dr. Lalitha C. Medepalli brings 20 years of experience to her practice, with clinical interests that include noninvasive cardiology, women’s heart health and cardio-oncology. An active member of the local community, she promotes women’s heart health awareness and the early detection and treatment of heart disease through a combination of speaking engagements and editorial content.
Her passion for cardio-oncology extends to her current work in developing a specialized cardio-oncology program to address the cardiovascular needs of patients with cancer. She also provides guidance for academic education, performance improvement and standardization of hospital procedures and protocols. She authored many publications over the years on cardiovascular diseases, cardiovascular imaging and specifically in her specialty, cardio oncology.
A Georgia Trend 2020 Top Doctor, Dr. Medepalli specializes in transthoracic echocardiography, transesophageal echocardiogram, nuclear cardiology-based procedures, cardiovascular imaging, cardiac computed tomography angiography (CCTA), stress echocardiograms, and Holter and event monitoring. Her cutting-edge treatment is always paired with empathy and a passion for patients’ well-being and quality of life.
Dr. Medepalli sees patients in Midtown Atlanta and Sandy Springs-Barfield.

Dr. Ankit A. Patel specializes in complex coronary and peripheral vascular interventions, mechanical circulatory support, transcutaneous aortic valve replacement (TAVR), patent foramen ovale/atrial septal defect closure (PFO/ASD closure), coronary CT angiography, echocardiography and stress test imaging.
Having personally experienced the impact a serious medical condition can have on a family, he is strongly committed to actively listening to patients’ concerns and delivering a treatment plan tailored to their individual circumstances. He finds it rewarding to perform interventions that lead to rapid heart recovery, as this brings much-needed relief to patients and their families.
Dr. Patel’s leadership within the medical field extends to director level appointments, participation as a site investigator for multiple clinical research trials, as well as involvement in medical executive, credentialing, peer review and technology steering committees. His areas of clinical interest include complex coronary and peripheral interventions, mechanical circulatory support for cardiogenic shock, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and structural heart disease.
Dr. Patel sees patients in Canton and Holly Springs.
